Yesterday we talked about the security a lock box provides. Today we’ll talk about the other big reason why a modern lock box is so useful: Feedback.
Whenever an agent accesses a lock box, the key they use stores the lock box ID they’ve just accessed. Each night, when they re-sync their key, the lock box ID’s are sent to a central system. If the listing agent has registered the lock box and also subscribed to access notification, they will then get an email notifying them of this access.

You can see an example of an access report entry above. The name of the listing agent, cell phone, office phone, brokerage, and email are all provided, along with the property being accessed and when the access was.
This makes following up for feedback a snap. When following up, I prefer to make a phone call to the agents cell phone. Understandably, agents are pretty responsive to calls coming in on their cell phone. If I get a voicemail, then I’ll also send an email as a further attempt to follow up. Some agents don’t like to provide feedback, but most are very willing, especially those with listings of their own.
There are still some people that do not want to have a lock box on their home. Their concerns vary, but regardless, the benefits so drastically outweigh the drawbacks that this is about as close to a no-brainer as it gets.
