Thursday, the National League Championship Series begins between the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks. I’m a reasonably big DBacks fan, and I wanted to demonstrate my loyalty with a simple, but meaningful wager over the outcome of the series. Normally, a lunch bet would suffice, but in this case I wanted the wager to be with a Denver Area Blogger, which would make buying the other person lunch a bit expensive (what with the flight over, car rental, etc.).
So, how to make a meaningful wager with a real estate blogger in Denver? And then it came to me: Guest contributor! With the help of Jay Thompson, Steve Scheer of the Real Estate in Denver and the Suburbs blog was found, and we agreed to a fun wager: The loser is obligated to 3 posts on the winners blog as a guest contributor. The first post must be about how great the winning team is. Another post will talk about the winning city. And the third post is open to the topic of the loser’s choice.
I think this will make the series all the more interesting. I’m optimistic we’ll have a great series between the two teams. I checked espn.com, and 9 of the 10 talking heads are picking Colorado to win the series. Egads. Well, these were the same talking heads that picked Chicago and Philadelphia to win the first round, so what do they know, right?

Nice, Steve. I am liking those predictions. I will get something up by tonight announcing as well.
Great stuff Steve. I’m really looking forward to it.
I’m looking forward to Denver Steve’s posts here!
Diamondbacks in five.
Jay, I am too. Even if just to increase the quality of posts we see here. Tonight will set the tone of the series for sure.
Ha! So are you going to the game Steve? Or watching from home?
Tonight, I’ll be watching at home on my small 10 foot screen. I’ll have a few people over and perhaps have a cold beverage from a bottle.
In 2001 I was a season ticket holder. But because of my 2 girls, I have since given them up. I did get out to a few games this year, but unless a client hooks me up, I’ll probably be home for the playoffs.
This should be fun to watch! May the best Mile High Team win.
Any predictions for tonight Steve?
If we don’t win, the series just might be over. I’m not happy with the result last night. I don’t know how many runners we stranded but we didn’t get any of the clutch hits we needed.
I still hold my prediction from before the series, and Doug Davis wins this for us. If he holds the Rockies scoreless in the first inning, he’ll shut you out for 6, before the bullpen comes in and gets the save.
Either that, or I need to get busy researching Denver so I don’t come off looking as back as my team after this loss.
This is more fun than I realized it would be.
By the way, I have been checking out your blog, nice job.
Thanks a ton for the kind words. I’m an engineer by education, so being creative and writing for others is something I really have to work at. That, and not using too many commas.
If the DBacks win tonight, it’ll be more fun for me. Even if they lose, it’s been fun. But winning is always a little more fun.
