The 3 month anniversary of the Phoenix Area Real Estate blog is just a few days away, and to celebrate, I’ve given the blog a new URL: http://www.RealPhoenixLiving.com. If you are reading this and thought you had clicked on http://blog.101bell.com, then you’ve arrived at the right place, it’s just some magic that’s automatically redirected you here. If you have me linked on a blogroll, and you get a chance, you might update your blogroll.
When I started the Phoenix Area Real Estate blog, I did so knowing very, very little about what I was getting myself in to. I attempted to find some other real estate blogs I liked to roll model, was generally discouraged by what I found, but just decided to give it a go anyway. For a few days, I gave blogger.com a shot, but that didn’t go well. I already owned the domain name 101bell.com, as the identity for my Realty Executives satellite office, which I self-hosted on a Linux box. So the cheap and easy thing to do was a bit of apache configuration, install WordPress, change my DNS settings, and give it a go.
3 months later, I’m more than a little pleased with the results I’ve achieved. Actually, I’m ecstatic. One short-coming, however, was the URL itself. Communicating it to someone over the phone resulted in confusion, because many people are not aware you can start a URL with anything other than www. I don’t want confusion, so I started to search for a new URL name, trying hundreds of possibilities over on Godaddy.com. I narrowed the selections I liked to a short list of 8 candidate URL names and sent out a quick survey to my closest confidants (if any of you are reading, thanks again!). RealPhoenixLiving.com ranked in the top 3 of nearly every respondent so it became a no-brainer that this was the choice I should make for the Phoenix Area Real Estate Blog.
Looking ahead, I’m very excited about continuing to improve the quality of this blog’s content, to continuing to network with other likeminded professionals about the comings and goings in the Phoenix real estate market, and to embracing this new Web 2.0 world I have suddenly found. To the readers that have found me, and found my ramblings somehow informative, such that you keep coming back, thank you. I’m working hard to keep it entertaining and informative.
