Very early this morning (Thursday, December 13) , we had a break-in of our offices. As far as we can tell, the only damage was to the DMARK location, which is where the phones and T1 lines come into the building. A sort of closet that has a door on the exterior. The guilty party broke through the lock for this room and proceeded to cut every telephone and similar looking wire they could see. The police concurred with my suspicion that they were probably trying to cut through the alarm system before attempting to break into the main part of the building.
For whatever reason, that’s as far as they went, as we don’t see any evidence of someone trying to break through any other locked doors and/or broken windows. However, it doesn’t change the fact that we appear to be on someone’s target list. Hopefully they have found the taste to be bitter, and will move on to something a little easier.
Also, rather coincidentally, we succeeded in making the planned telecom changes today. I guess you could say we killed 2 birds with one outage stone, but I’m not happy about the first bird.
At any rate, if you were trying to click on by, and found the blog was completely offline, this is why.
