This post is a bit late in arriving. I took the above photo last Wednesday, and it’s been sitting in my memory card begging to come out and be seen by the world. Well, probably not, but it has been waiting patiently for nearly a week. The Barrett-Jackson auction, however, doesn’t care that I’ve been a tad busy lately. It’s going on with or without me. Actually, truth be told, every year the auction has gone on without me. I hate to admit it, since I live within earshot of the event (sometimes the music is quite loud), but I’ve never attended the Barrett-Jackson auction. I’ve come close to going, but the plans always seem to fall through at the last minute.
The photo above can be compared with this photo I took last fall, after the new cover was placed on the Westworld Tent.

Obviously, the big tent undergoes a massive transformation for this event. I’m having a hard time putting my arms around how much all of the white tents must cost that surround the long standing beige tent. While the one that stays year-round is impressive, it’s almost dwarfed by what they build around it.
I know many, many people attend the event and/or watch it live on TV. The TV coverage is amazing, and I do usually take in at least some of that. If you are planning to attend, and thus you’ll be almost literally in my backyard, I’ll let you park in my Realty Executives office parking lot, if you promise to pop in and say hi. FYI, our office is closer than many of the public parking lots. Plus, as a bonus I’ll throw in pictures of 4+ car garage homes that you’ll be needing after the auction.
Enjoy the auction.

I love classic cars. I take that back - I love cars…The closest I have ever come to owning a “real” classic car was my 1974 Cadillac El Dorado. It was a pretty survivor car with only 34000 original miles. Selling that thing presented its unique challenge. That car is almost 19 feet long and would not fit in a standard sized garage…..I should have never sold it.
I’m going for the first time. Are you going? Can I park in your lot? I’m coming with some friends and I’ll introduce you to them (great car guys). Plus it’ll be good to finally meet!
Absolutely! It would be great on all counts. I’m not likely to attend, except perhaps Friday, but definitely stop by.
Steve,
I went to Barrett-Jackson last Saturday. I parked on Princess and Hayden and rode the shuttle in (provided by Barrett-Jackson, of course). It as a great time. Had a great time. The cars were not going for much, but I heard it got hot as the day went on. I left mid-afternoon so I missed it.
