It's a strange and addictive world, this blogging thing! I can't imagine a better marketing tool, and it's basically free. I also can't imagine a more difficult, long-term endeavor - it's definitely a marathon and not a sprint! (I bet you didn't realize that when you started) ;-)

Congratulations on a great 1st year. Here's to many more. (I'm raising my adult beverage to you now, but you can't see that, can you?)

Cheers.

Happy Belated Blog Birthday Steve. Its been nice to meet you this past year. I don't see a repeat blogging wager happening, at least on this side this year.

Steve,

Happy 226-posts-and-now-you-are-1! I laughed at this part:

"...I was lucky that I linked out to other bloggers on my 2nd post, when I had no earthly idea that this could cause them to notice me (which they did)..."

We did the same thing -- and by dumb luck made a friend or two out of it.

Keep going strong!

@Eric, you've done an amazing job. I'm still stunned you listened to me and then took action. Are you going to start twittering now?

@Jay, your help and support has been invaluable. The RE.NET community is fortunate to have such an ambassador in its mitts, and even better yet, you're barely farther than down the street from me.

@Pam, as luck would have it, via Twitter I found you just yesterday, and thanks to Twitter, you've found me. The power of Twitter simply cannot be ignored.

And regarding marketing position, I use this description now and again: In the RE.NET, I have a decent share of the online RE pie, at a time when overall, the RE.NET is still a small share of the total pie. As the online pie grows, my share doesn't even need to grow, for amazing success to follow, although I'm always working on getting a bigger share.

1st - I love the creativity of linking to the different people who have helped without even mentioning their names. Pretty cool.

2nd - I am thankful I stopped by your office that one day, asked what you thought I could do to increase my business as a young LO, and you introduced me to blogging. Not only that, you took the time on a couple different occasions to share what you know.

I hope to one day see the success of my blogging passion as you and so many other realtors are currently experiencing. Time, patience, and help are all great things to have on my side.

Thanks again and Happy Birthday to your blog.

Happy Blogiversary!!

Ya done real good Steve. It's been a pleasure getting to know you and watching your blog grow.

Your blog birthday shares the same the same date as the anniversary of my divorce. Today's the big 20!

And you got a comment from Pam Slim! I heard Seth Godin say to her, "Oh yeah, you're famous!"

Congratulations Steve, and Happy Birthday Steve's Blog! (A blog feels like a child, doesn't it?)

I really love your account of the first year, and how your blog has turned into a great marketing tool.

I just taught a class tonight to a group of coaches who were unfamiliar with the power of blogs. Coincidentally, I also recommended WordPress (I will be migrating soon, am on Typepad now), and mentioned Twitter as a complimentary activity to blogging. So your post serves as a strong testimonial.

Keep up the great work and good luck making it through this dip and onto bigger and better things! My husband has a construction company here in the valley, and I can imagine the only folks more glum than construction workers these days are real estate agents. :)

The good news? There is no better time to position yourself strongly than in a struggling market. That is what we are doing with his business, to great success.

Rock on!
