Ignite Phoenix #3 is Tonight – 2/25/09

February 25, 2009 · 2 comments

ignite-phoenix Tonight, February 25th at 6:00pm, Ignite Phoenix lights off for the third time.  The previous two Ignites have been overwhelming successes, each generating standing room only crowds, as number three looks to continue that trend.

I’m sure you are asking, “What is Ignite Phoenix?”  From their web site, Ignite Phoenix is an information exchange aimed at fostering and lighting a fire under the Valley’s creative community. Ummm,ok, but what is it really?  What it really is, is a chance for anyone with a creative idea to get 5 minutes to publicly share their idea with the group.  At the end of the 5 minutes, it’s the next person’s turn.  The pace is fast, the energy high, and nothing stops the fire once it starts.

What’s the point of Ignite Phoenix?  In the best case, you share an idea that resonates with some, or even all of the people in attendance, and something special is ignited.  The idea is given it’s first start, and perhaps grows into a worthy business, cause, or future event.  Entrepreneurs across the Valley will be there to share their creative ideas for change, hoping to garner some interest and support.  Perhaps it will be a new book announcement, a new web site launch, or the pitch to support a worthy cause, that gets the crowd ignited most.

The line up for Ignite Phoenix #3 is already set, so if this sounds like a venue you are now hoping to speak in, you’ll have to wait for #4.  However, even if that’s the case, you still need to get down to the Tempe Center for the Arts to see what some of the most creative minds in Phoenix are thinking.  Perhaps best of all, it’s free!

So has anything come about as a result of these meetings yet? We’ve tried similar things involved the rescue community here in Las Vegas, but sometimes egos get in the way.

Hi Charles. It’s difficult to quantify the impact of these meetings, but I’ll share one story.

I have a long time friend that is starting a new online business. She did not attend Ignite #2, but one of the folks in her organization did. At Ignite #2, one of the speakers talked about his new online business. These two businesses have a chance to have some true synergy. They met and discussed opportunities the following week.

Neither would have known of the other, if not for Ignite #2. At least, not at the infancy of each. That’s what Ignite is about. Finding out about the cool, creative ideas at their infancy. The near doubling in attendance for each Ignite demonstrates, to me, that it is creating momentum here in Phoenix. The next one is in early June.
