Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Can the photo be one that I took, but never used?

A.  No, the photo must be a photo that was actually published on the internet, apparently with the goal of helping to rent or sell the property.

Q. Do you mean “worst” as in subject matter or “worst” as in quality of photo?

A.  This is very subjective.  The bottom line would really be, which photo do you think would garner more votes?  Personally, I’m more of a technical photographer, so a poorly framed, out of focus, grainy, low quality photo, of what otherwise might have been an appealing room would be “worse” that an otherwise quality photo of a bunch of junk.  In the case of the junk, the REALTOR may have tried their absolute best to get it removed, but the seller just wouldn’t.  In the case of the crummy photo, the REALTOR gets no “benefit of the doubt” in my book.

Q.  Was the photo in your contest announcement post actually used for a listing?

A.  Ok, I’ll be honest.  The photo was pretty bad, but I wanted something horrible, so with Picassa I made it grainier (it was grainy, but not this bad) and a tad darker, so that the caption would stand out more.  The blurriness (was a lens actually attached to the camera?) was already there.  This brings up a good point, however.  For actual entries, please leave the photo unaltered.  I may not have a way of verifying that, so I’m asking for everyone to be honest here.
